From the earliest days of railroading bridges like the Walthers Cornerstone Trestle with Deck Girder Bridge have been used to cross low spots, streams and other obstacles. In many cases a trestle was a cheaper, faster option for keeping construction moving. Trestles consist of a series of piers, called bents, which support the track. Wood was the favored building material until the 1940s, and many survive on branches and less busy lines to this day. Where piers could not be erected, such as in a flowing stream, a highway, or across another railroad, a deck girder bridge would be installed as part of the structure. This versatile kit opens lots of detailing options along your right-of-way. Perfect for use in virtually any era, the detailed plastic parts simulate the all-wood construction of the prototypes.
